Issue Position: Gun Rights

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018
Issues: Guns

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

People have tried to parse the words in many ways. However, if the government has to the right to define "militia" it can define it in such a way that no one can be in one. I cannot believe the founders who just wen through a serious rebellion were that short sighted.

Just as our other amendments have held through time, this shall too.

I do not preserve this right under a love of guns, a delusion that revolution is coming, or some idea that I can play hero. I don't believe such things are likely at all to happen with in my lifetime. I preserve them for a future I will not be part of and a people that I won't be around to protect. Some rights are harder to deal with for sure, but this one must be maintained.
